Carrol Boyes

Carrol Boyes pieces are described as 'Functional Art' because of their beauty and usefullness. Her quirky cutlery and homeware pieces are hand made from one of three metals - pewter, aluminium or stainless steel.

Carrol Boyes has been designing her range for 20 years and whilst she's based in Cape Town, her factory and workshop is based in the Limpopo Valley in the north of South Africa. She choose this area because the impovorished Shangaan people who live there have an age-old talent for three dimensional design through their tradition of wood carving.

Carrol believes strongly in paying a fair wage and as a result each of the 350 people she employs there provides for up to ten family members. In addition she provides her staff with medical insurance and pensions. So not only is her work beautiful and useful, it's also ethical.
